Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, joins discussions on shaping the future of Wrexham
Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Transport and Infrastructure and Chair of the Senedd’s Cross-Party Group on Tourism recently took part in a roundtable event hosted by Wrexham Leadership Alliance at JCB on the Wrexham Industrial Estate.
He said:
I was delighted to have the opportunity to join business leaders, innovators, educators, and community partners to discuss issues that will decide the aims and objectives for Wrexham in the future.
As most people know I am a great supporter of the city and its increasing popularity both on and off the football field.
It continues to have global appeal and there is a great sense of vibrancy when you walk through the city centre and I am really pleased to be involved in any discussions about Wrexham’s future.
During the event I spoke about the importance of SMEs to Wrexham and how working collaboratively between stakeholders is the key to continuing Wrexham’s legacy, cementing Wrexham’s future not just locally but nationally.
I also took the opportunity to touch on the upcoming Senedd elections and encouraged the attendees to reach out and engage with candidates to ensure their voices are heard.
The Wrexham Leadership Alliance is a collaboration of businesses, community, and private sector organisations within Wrexham County Borough who work together to support and promote the growth and success of businesses and communities in Wrexham.
Above all, by bringing together a formidable group of organisational leaders, Wrexham Leadership Alliance will ensure that the region’s ambitions are supported, that the voices of the people, businesses and communities are heard, that opportunity is available to all, and that Wrexham’s full potential is realised.
During the recent event attendees were split between four tables each of which had an expert to lead and guide discussions, with findings being collated and presented to the leadership alliance to aid them in deciding their future aims and objectives to shape Wrexham’s future.
Through small, dynamic focus groups they tackled the issues that matter most: from funding and investment, skills and education, entrepreneurship and talent growth, community initiatives, employment legislation, to procurement and trade opportunities. It was all designed to encourage active participation, idea-sharing, and practical solutions that will shape the future of Wrexham.

Yn ddiweddar, fe wnaeth Mr Rowlands, Ysgrifennydd Cabinet yr Wrthblaid dros Gyllid, Trafnidiaeth a Seilwaith a Chadeirydd Grŵp Trawsbleidiol y Senedd ar Dwristiaeth gymryd rhan n mewn digwyddiad bord gron a gynhaliwyd gan Gynghrair Arweinyddiaeth Wrecsam yn JCB ar Ystad Ddiwydiannol Wrecsam.
Meddai:
Roeddwn i’n falch iawn o gael y cyfle i ymuno ag arweinwyr busnes, arloeswyr, addysgwyr a phartneriaid cymunedol i drafod materion a fydd yn llywio nodau ac amcanion Wrecsam yn y dyfodol.
Fel y mae'r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn gwybod, rwy'n gefnogwr brwd o'r ddinas a'i phoblogrwydd cynyddol ar ac oddi ar y cae pêl-droed.
Mae'n parhau i fod ag apêl fyd-eang ac mae ymdeimlad mawr o fywiogrwydd yma pan fyddwch chi'n cerdded drwy ganol y ddinas. Rwy'n falch iawn o fod yn rhan o unrhyw drafodaethau am ddyfodol Wrecsam.
Yn ystod y digwyddiad, fe wnes i siarad am bwysigrwydd busnesau bach a chanolig i Wrecsam ac mai cydweithio rhwng rhanddeiliaid yw'r allwedd i sicrhau parhad gwaddol arbennig Wrecsam, gan gadarnhau dyfodol y ddinas nid yn unig yn lleol ond yn genedlaethol.
Fe wnes i hefyd fanteisio ar y cyfle i sôn am etholiadau'r Senedd sydd ar y gorwel, gan annog y mynychwyr i estyn allan ac ymgysylltu ag ymgeiswyr i sicrhau bod eu lleisiau yn cael eu clywed.
Cydweithrediad o fusnesau, sefydliadau'r gymuned a'r sector preifat ym Mwrdeistref Sirol Wrecsam yw Cynghrair Arweinyddiaeth Wrecsam ac maen nhw’n gweithio gyda'i gilydd i gefnogi a hyrwyddo twf a llwyddiant busnesau a chymunedau yn Wrecsam.
Yn anad dim, drwy ddod â grŵp heb ei ail o arweinwyr sefydliadol at ei gilydd, bydd Cynghrair Arweinyddiaeth Wrecsam yn sicrhau bod uchelgeisiau'r rhanbarth yn cael eu cefnogi, bod lleisiau'r bobl, y busnesau a'r cymunedau yn cael eu clywed, bod cyfleoedd i bawb, a bod potensial llawn Wrecsam yn cael ei wireddu.
Yn ystod y digwyddiad diweddar, rhannwyd y mynychwyr yn bedwar bwrdd, gyda phob un â’i arbenigwr ei hun i arwain a llywio trafodaethau, gyda'r canfyddiadau'n cael eu coladu a'u cyflwyno i'r gynghrair arweinyddiaeth i'w helpu i benderfynu ar eu nodau a'u hamcanion yn y dyfodol i lunio dyfodol Wrecsam.
Trwy gyfrwng grwpiau ffocws bach, dynamig fe wnaethon nhw fynd i'r afael â'r materion pwysicaf: o gyllid a buddsoddi, sgiliau ac addysg, entrepreneuriaeth a thwf talent i fentrau cymunedol, deddfwriaeth cyflogaeth, cyfleoedd caffael a masnach. Mae'r cyfan wedi'i gynllunio i annog cyfranogiad gweithredol a rhannu syniadau ac atebion ymarferol a fydd yn siapio dyfodol Wrecsam.
