Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has called for improved public transport links to and from the Wrexham industrial estate.

Speaking in the Senedd, he said:

I recently met with businesses from Wrexham industrial estate, including JCB, Platts Agriculture and Kellogg's, as well as Net World Sports, who met with me to explain the issues that they're experiencing around villages around Wrexham accessing public transport into the industrial estate and how that's impeding their ability to recruit from as wide a field as possible.

There is a project under way at the moment to see how public transport can be improved on the industrial estate, but their frustration is the pace of delivering that and what the likely outcome may be.

I wonder if you'd be willing to work with myself and those businesses on the industrial estate to ensure that any public transport to and from the industrial estate can be accelerated and can provide assurances to those businesses that it will meet the needs that they and their employees have.

Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, said there was a public transport summit taking place in May, where he hoped to able to make an announcement about bus services in and around Wrexham related to the investment zone.

Mr Rowlands added:

I do hope that the Welsh Government will take these real concerns on board as a matter of urgency and support the provision of a better public transport service to and from the Wrexham industrial estate.

It is quite clearly something which is desperately needed as soon as possible and I will continue to support businesses who are calling for these improvements.

Sam Rowlands AS yn galw am well cysylltiadau trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i ystad ddiwydiannol yn y Gogledd

Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi galw am well cysylltiadau trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i ystad ddiwydiannol Wrecsam ac oddi yno.

Wrth siarad yn y Senedd, dywedodd:

Yn ddiweddar, fe wnes i gyfarfod â busnesau o ystad ddiwydiannol Wrecsam, gan gynnwys JCB, Platts Agriculture a Kellogg's, yn ogystal â Net World Sports, ac esboniwyd wrthyf y problemau y maen nhw’n eu cael mewn pentrefi o amgylch Wrecsam o ran cael trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i’r ystad ddiwydiannol a sut mae hynny’n rhwystro eu gallu i recriwtio o ardal mor eang â phosibl.

Mae prosiect ar y gweill ar hyn o bryd i weld sut y gellid gwella trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus ar yr ystad ddiwydiannol, ond maen nhw’n teimlo’n rhwystredig ynghylch pa mor gyflym y mae hyn yn cael ei gyflawni a beth fydd y canlyniad tebygol.

A fyddech chi’n barod i weithio gyda mi a’r busnesau ar yr ystad ddiwydiannol i sicrhau bod unrhyw drafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i’r ystad ddiwydiannol ac oddi yno yn gallu cael ei chyflymu ac y gall roi sicrwydd i’r busnesau hynny y bydd yn diwallu’r anghenion sydd ganddyn nhw a’u gweithwyr.

Dywedodd Ken Skates, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Drafnidiaeth a Gogledd Cymru, fod uwchgynhadledd trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus yn cael ei chynnal ym mis Mai, lle’r oedd yn gobeithio y byddai’n gallu gwneud cyhoeddiad ynghylch gwasanaethau bysiau yn Wrecsam a’r cyffiniau sy’n gysylltiedig â’r ardal fuddsoddi.

Ychwanegodd Mr Rowlands:

Rwy’n gobeithio y bydd Llywodraeth Cymru yn rhoi ystyriaeth i’r pryderon hyn ar frys ac yn cefnogi’r gwaith o ddarparu gwell gwasanaeth trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus i ystad ddiwydiannol Wrecsam ac oddi yno.

Mae’n amlwg bod angen enbyd am hyn cyn gynted â phosibl a byddaf yn parhau i gefnogi busnesau sy’n galw am y gwelliannau hyn.
