Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, urges constituents to make sure they have the chance to vote in the upcoming Senedd election.
He said:
As most people know I am very passionate about making sure residents have their say on local issues and it is vitally important you have the opportunity to vote for your representatives for the next Welsh Parliament.
It is important that everyone has the chance to have their say in who runs their country and if you are not registered then you will be unable to vote so I would urge residents to make sure they do not miss out.
On May 7 Wales will vote to elect the Senedd, also called the Welsh Parliament which is responsible for making decisions on issues that affect everyday life in Wales, including the NHS, schools, roads, housing and local government.
This year the election has a new voting system and the number of seats in the Welsh Parliament has also risen from 60 to 96 with 16 larger constituencies, each returning six Members of the Senedd.
Wrexham and Flintshire now form a single constituency called Fflint Wrecsam and six MSs will be elected for this area.
You will not be voting for an individual candidate but for a party and seats are then allocated to each party based on their share of the vote using a proportional system.
The deadline to register to vote in the 2026 Senedd election is April 20. To register go to gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn annog etholwyr i wneud yn siŵr eu bod yn cael y cyfle i bleidleisio yn etholiad y Senedd sydd ar ddod.
Dywedodd:
Fel y mae'r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn gwybod, rwy'n angerddol iawn am sicrhau bod trigolion yn dweud eu dweud ar faterion lleol ac mae'n hanfodol bwysig eich bod chi'n cael y cyfle i bleidleisio dros eich cynrychiolwyr ar gyfer Senedd nesaf Cymru.
Mae'n bwysig bod pawb yn cael y cyfle i ddweud eu dweud ynghylch pwy sy'n rhedeg eu gwlad ac os nad ydych wedi cofrestru, yna fyddwch chi ddim yn gallu pleidleisio. Felly byddwn yn annog trigolion i wneud yn siŵr nad ydyn nhw'n colli’r cyfle.
Ar 7 Mai bydd Cymru'n pleidleisio i ethol y Senedd, a elwir hefyd yn Senedd Cymru, sy'n gyfrifol am wneud penderfyniadau ar faterion sy'n effeithio ar fywyd bob dydd yng Nghymru, gan gynnwys y GIG, ysgolion, ffyrdd, tai a llywodraeth leol.
Eleni mae gan yr etholiad system bleidleisio newydd ac mae nifer y seddi yn Senedd Cymru hefyd wedi codi o 60 i 96 gydag 16 etholaeth fwy, pob un yn ethol chwe Aelod o'r Senedd.
Mae Wrecsam a Sir y Fflint bellach yn ffurfio un etholaeth o'r enw Fflint Wrecsam a bydd chwe AS yn cael eu hethol ar gyfer yr ardal hon.
Ni fyddwch yn pleidleisio dros ymgeisydd unigol ond dros blaid ac yna dyrennir seddi i bob plaid yn seiliedig ar eu cyfran o'r bleidlais gan ddefnyddio system gyfrannol.
