Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, says taxpayers in Wales are being taken for granted.

Speaking in the Senedd, Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Minister for Finance questioned the impact the UK Autumn budget would have on Wales.

He said:

It's clear to us on these benches that Labour just takes taxpayers for granted. We've seen it, haven't we, through the promises made before the 2024 election not to tax those working people, but Labour went ahead and did that anyway.

There was a promise last year after the budget for no further tax rises, but we saw a £26 billion increase in tax just last week. It's those tax-paying working families who will now have to earn around £71,000 a year to match the value of not working, and that is not fair.

That is absolutely not fair, not compassionate and not sustainable for our economy. With this in mind, First Minister, do you continue to support the position of the Chancellor?

The First Minister, Eluned Morgan said she was extremely grateful for the fact that they have got additional money to support public services.

Mr Rowlands added:

Quite clearly the Welsh Labour Government does not accept that the £26bn in tax rises announced last week will punish hard-working people up and down Wales.

At this time we have our public services stretched to the limit, households continuing to struggle with real cost pressures and local authorities like Wrexham, in my constituency, warning about unprecedented  budget deficits. There is certainly not a lot to be grateful for.

Sam Rowlands AS yn beirniadu cyllideb Hydref y DU yn y Senedd

Mae Sam Rowlands, AS Gogledd Cymru, yn dweud bod trethdalwyr yng Nghymru yn cael eu cymryd yn ganiataol.

Yn y Senedd, cwestiynodd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Cabinet yr Wrthblaid dros Gyllid, yr effaith y byddai cyllideb Hydref y DU yn ei chael ar Gymru.

Meddai:

Mae'n amlwg i ni ar y meinciau hyn fod Llafur yn cymryd y trethdalwyr yn ganiataol. Fe welsom ni hynny, oni wnaethom ni, trwy'r addewidion a gafodd eu gwneud cyn etholiad 2024 i beidio â threthu'r bobl hynny sy'n gweithio, ond fe aeth Llafur ymlaen a gwneud felly beth bynnag.

Roedd addewid a gafodd ei gwneud ar ôl y gyllideb y llynedd na fyddai unrhyw godiadau pellach i dreth, ond fe welsom ni gynnydd o £26 biliwn o ran y dreth yr wythnos diwethaf. Y teuluoedd hynny sy'n gweithio ac yn talu treth a fydd yn gorfod ennill tua £71,000 y flwyddyn erbyn hyn i gyd-fynd â gwerth peidio â gweithio, ac nid yw hynny'n deg.

Nid yw hynny'n deg o gwbl, nid yw'n dangos cydymdeimlad nac yn gynaliadwy ar gyfer ein heconomi ni. Gyda hyn mewn golwg, Prif Weinidog, a ydych chi'n dal i gefnogi safbwynt y Canghellor?

Dywedodd y Prif Weinidog, Eluned Morgan, ei bod yn hynod ddiolchgar eu bod wedi cael arian ychwanegol i gefnogi gwasanaethau cyhoeddus.

Ychwanegodd Mr Rowlands:

"Yn amlwg nid yw Llywodraeth Lafur Cymru yn derbyn y bydd y £26bn mewn codiadau treth a gyhoeddwyd yr wythnos diwethaf yn cosbi pobl sy'n gweithio'n galed ar hyd a lled Cymru.

"Mae ein gwasanaethau cyhoeddus wedi'u hymestyn i'r eithaf, lle mae aelwydydd yn parhau i gael trafferth gyda phwysau costau go iawn ac awdurdodau lleol fel Wrecsam, yn fy etholaeth i, yn rhybuddio am ddiffygion cyllidebol digynsail. Yn sicr, does dim llawer i ni fod yn ddiolchgar amdano."
