Sam Rowlands

Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, fears for the future economy in North-East Wales if Plaid Cymru continue to push for independence from the rest of the UK.

Speaking in the Senedd, Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Minister for Finance, Transport and Infrastructure, expressed his concern at Plaid Cymru’s separatist agenda.

He said:

North-East Wales, Fflint Wrecsam, is the economic powerhouse of North Wales and a huge contributor to tens of thousands of jobs in Wales, providing prosperity to tens of thousands of people, supporting them buying their first homes, supporting their families and allowing them to live the lives that they want to live.

One of the most important links of Fflint Wrecsam is to the economy in North-West England and in the UK as a whole, a really important part of our economy in that part of the world.

Cabinet Secretary, would you agree with me that one of the biggest risks to business and prosperity in North Wales and in Fflint Wrecsam is the separatist agenda of Plaid Cymru, who are desperate for Wales to be independent from the rest of the United Kingdom.

We know that would cost taxpayers in Wales £20 billion a year, a completely unfunded commitment from Plaid Cymru. Do you agree with me that that's the biggest risk to the people and businesses of Fflint Wrecsam?

Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning said that she agreed wholeheartedly with Sam Rowlands and absolutely endorsed what he had to say.

Sam Rowlands AS yn mynegi pryder am agenda annibyniaeth Plaid Cymru

Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, yn poeni am yr economi yng Ngogledd-ddwyrain Cymru yn y dyfodol os bydd Plaid Cymru yn parhau i bwyso am annibyniaeth oddi wrth weddill y DU.

Yn y Senedd, mynegodd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Cabinet yr Wrthblaid dros Gyllid, Trafnidiaeth a Seilwaith, ei bryder am agenda ymwahanu Plaid Cymru.

Meddai:

Fe fyddwch yn gwybod mai gogledd-ddwyrain Cymru, Fflint Wrecsam, yw pwerdy economaidd gogledd Cymru a'i fod yn cyfrannu'n enfawr at ddegau o filoedd o swyddi yng Nghymru, gan ddarparu ffyniant i ddegau o filoedd o bobl, eu cefnogi i brynu eu cartrefi cyntaf, cefnogi eu teuluoedd a chaniatáu iddynt fyw'r bywydau y maent am eu byw.

Un o gysylltiadau pwysicaf Fflint Wrecsam yw'r un â'r economi yng ngogledd-orllewin Lloegr ac yn y DU gyfan, rhan bwysig iawn o’n heconomi yn y rhan honno o’r byd.

Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet, a fyddech chi'n cytuno â mi mai un o'r risgiau mwyaf i fusnes a ffyniant yng ngogledd Cymru ac yn Fflint Wrecsam yw agenda ymwahanol Plaid Cymru, sy'n daer am weld Cymru'n annibynnol oddi ar weddill y Deyrnas Unedig?

Gwyddom y byddai hynny'n costio £20 biliwn y flwyddyn i drethdalwyr yng Nghymru, ymrwymiad heb ei ariannu o gwbl gan Blaid Cymru. A ydych chi'n cytuno â mi mai dyna'r risg fwyaf i bobl a busnesau Fflint Wrecsam?

Dywedodd Rebecca Evans, Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros yr Economi, Ynni a Chynllunio ei bod yn cytuno'n llwyr â Sam Rowlands ac yn cymeradwyo'r hyn oedd ganddo i'w ddweud.
