Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is calling for more to be done to help veterans.
Mr Rowlands was speaking in the Senedd during the Welsh Conservatives Debate: Remembrance and the armed forces community.
He said:
In Wales, we see that every year veterans, cadets and families come together, standing side by side, in quiet tribute. It's something that binds our community together.
But remembrance, must also mean action because while it's right that we wear the poppy with pride, it's equally right that we ensure those who served have a home, have support and have opportunities when they return to civilian life.
It pains us all when we see veterans unable to access the support they need. No veteran who served our country should ever be homeless here in Wales. Giving veterans that top priority in housing allocations would be a simple but a powerful step to recognise this.
And why is it that support for our veterans is so important? It is because we recognise the prize for which their service is rendered, the most precious commodity known to humanity—freedom.
Remembrance compels us to stop and appreciate the liberties we often take for granted—the freedom to speak, to vote, to gather, to live our lives without fear of tyranny, every right we exercise today paid for by the sacrifices of those we remember.
Their courage protected our democracy and our way of life from those who sought to extinguish it. When we stand silent we're not just mourning loss—we are celebrating the successful defence of liberty itself. Understanding that freedom is never free.
Remembrance isn't about one weekend in November. It's about the choices we make every day to support those who have given and continue to give so much for our freedom. As Welsh Conservatives, we have a clear plan to make sure our veterans are supported in a country they fought so bravely to protect.

Roedd Mr Rowlands yn siarad yn y Senedd yn ystod Dadl y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig: Cofio a chymuned y lluoedd arfog.
Dywedodd:
Yng Nghymru, bob blwyddyn, gwelwn gyn-filwyr, cadetiaid a theuluoedd yn dod at ei gilydd, yn sefyll ochr yn ochr mewn teyrnged dawel. Mae'n rhywbeth sy'n clymu ein cymuned
Ond fel y clywsom, rhaid i gofio olygu gweithredu hefyd a dyna yw diben ein cynnig heddiw, oherwydd er ei bod yn iawn ein bod yn gwisgo'r pabi gyda balchder, mae'r un mor iawn ein bod yn sicrhau bod y rhai a wasanaethodd yn cael cartref, yn cael cefnogaeth ac yn cael cyfleoedd pan fyddant yn dychwelyd i fywyd sifil.
Mae'n boenus i bawb ohonom pan welwn gyn-filwyr nad ydynt yn gallu cael y cymorth sydd ei angen arnynt.
Ni ddylai unrhyw gyn-filwr sydd wedi gwasanaethu ein gwlad byth fod yn ddigartref yma yng Nghymru
Byddai rhoi blaenoriaeth uchaf i gyn-filwyr mewn dyraniadau tai yn gam syml ond pwerus i gydnabod hyn.
A pham y mae cefnogaeth i'n cyn-filwyr mor bwysig? Oherwydd ein bod yn cydnabod y wobr y mae eu gwasanaeth wedi ei rhoi, y nwydd mwyaf gwerthfawr y gŵyr y ddynoliaeth amdano: rhyddid.
Mae cofio yn ein gorfodi i oedi a gwerthfawrogi'r rhyddid yr ydym yn aml yn ei gymryd yn ganiataol—y rhyddid i siarad, i bleidleisio, i ymgynnull, i fyw ein bywydau heb ofni gormes, a thalwyd am bob hawl sydd gennym heddiw gan aberth y rhai a gofiwn.
Fe wnaeth eu dewrder warchod ein democratiaeth a'n ffordd o fyw rhag y rhai a geisiodd eu dileu. Pan fyddwn yn sefyll yn dawel, rydym yn galaru colled, ond rydym hefyd yn dathlu'r modd y llwyddwyd i warchod rhyddid, gan ddeall bod yna gost i ryddid bob amser.
Nid ymwneud ag un penwythnos ym mis Tachwedd yn unig y mae cofio. Mae'n ymwneud â'r dewisiadau a wnawn bob dydd i gefnogi'r rhai sydd wedi rhoi ac sy'n parhau i roi cymaint dros ein rhyddid. Fel Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, mae gennym gynllun clir i sicrhau bod ein cyn-filwyr yn cael eu cefnogi mewn gwlad y gwnaethant ymladd mor ddewr i'w hamddiffyn.
