Sam Rowlands

Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has pledged his support to make stroke a health priority.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of the Stroke Association recently met with representatives at an event at the Senedd in Cardiff.

He said:

I am always pleased to support the work of the Stroke Association and help to raise awareness of this preventable disease.

I fully support their calls to make stroke a health priority as it is something we should all be aware of and know more about.

It is important to note that with the right investment stroke is preventable, treatable, and recoverable.

The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families and is now calling on the Welsh Government to place stroke on top of its health priority list.

Annually, stroke costs NHS Wales £220 million, and the Welsh economy £1.63 billion. Without intervention, this could rise to £2.8 billion by 2035.

Every year in Wales, another 7,000 survivors face the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The good news is that with the right investment stroke is preventable, treatable, and recoverable.

Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi galwadau i godi ymwybyddiaeth o strôc yn y Gogledd

Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi addo cefnogi cynllun i wneud strôc yn flaenoriaeth iechyd.

Yn ddiweddar, fe wnaeth Mr Rowlands, sy’n gefnogwr brwd o'r Gymdeithas Strôc, gwrdd â chynrychiolwyr mewn digwyddiad yn y Senedd ym Mae Caerdydd.

Meddai:

Rwyf bob amser yn falch o gefnogi gwaith y Gymdeithas Strôc a helpu i godi ymwybyddiaeth o'r clefyd hwn y mae modd ei atal.

Rwy'n cefnogi eu galwadau i wneud strôc yn flaenoriaeth iechyd gan ei fod yn rhywbeth y dylen ni i gyd fod yn ymwybodol ohono a gwybod mwy amdano.

Mae'n bwysig nodi bod modd atal a thrin strôc, a gwella ohono, gyda'r buddsoddiad cywir.

Y Gymdeithas Strôc yw'r unig elusen yn y DU sy'n darparu cymorth gydol oes i bawb sydd wedi goroesi strôc a'u teuluoedd, ac mae bellach yn galw ar Lywodraeth Cymru i roi strôc ar frig ei rhestr o flaenoriaethau iechyd.

Bob blwyddyn, mae strôc yn costio £220 miliwn i GIG Cymru, a £1.63 biliwn i economi Cymru. Heb ymyrraeth, gallai hyn godi i £2.8 biliwn erbyn 2035.

Bob blwyddyn yng Nghymru, mae 7,000 arall o oroeswyr yn wynebu effaith drychinebus strôc. Ond gyda'r buddsoddiad cywir, y newyddion da yw bod modd atal a thrin strôc, a gwella ohono.
