Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, backs calls for young people to get more involved in politics.

He said:

I am delighted to promote Welcome to Your Vote Week 2025 which encourages young people to learn more about their local government and how it works for them.

I always welcome any opportunities to talk to pupils about my experiences as a former Mayor, Council Leader and now Member of the Welsh Parliament.

I am a great supporter of getting schools and youth groups more involved locally in politics, democracy and I have visited several schools across North Wales to talk to students about my role as they are the politicians of the future.

March 10-16, 2025, is Welcome to Your Vote Week, when schools and youth groups celebrate democracy. Each year, the event focusses on one key theme and this year it is going to be…get informed and get involved.

This Welcome to Your Vote Week, support young people to access trustworthy information to get informed about politics, democracy and elections, and take the first steps to get involved locally.

Whether it’s discovering who represents them in their area, exploring the issues that matter most to them, or making a positive impact in their community, there are lots of ways young people can get informed and get involved.

The aim of Welcome to Your Vote Week is to give young people the knowledge and confidence they need to cast their vote and discover other ways to get involved in democracy.

It’s a great opportunity for teachers and educators to start the conversation with young people.

If you work in a school or with a youth group, sign up to take part in the 2025 event and you will receive free resources ahead of the week to help you get involved.

Sam Rowlands AS yn cefnogi Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais 2025

Mae Sam Rowlands, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros y Gogledd, yn cefnogi galwadau ar bobl ifanc i gymryd mwy o ran mewn gwleidyddiaeth.

Meddai:

Rydw i wrth fy modd yn cael hyrwyddo Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais 2025 sy'n annog pobl ifanc i ddysgu mwy am eu llywodraeth leol a sut mae'n gweithio iddyn nhw.

Rydw i bob amser yn croesawu unrhyw gyfle i siarad â disgyblion am fy mhrofiadau fel cyn-Faer, Arweinydd y Cyngor a bellach Aelod o’r Senedd.

Rwy'n gefnogwr brwd dros gael ysgolion a grwpiau ieuenctid i gymryd mwy o ran yn lleol mewn gwleidyddiaeth a democratiaeth ac rydw i wedi ymweld â sawl ysgol ledled y Gogledd i siarad â myfyrwyr am fy rôl gan mai nhw yw gwleidyddion y dyfodol.

Cynhelir Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais ar 10-16 Mawrth 2025, pan fydd ysgolion a grwpiau ieuenctid yn dathlu democratiaeth. Bob blwyddyn, mae'r digwyddiad yn canolbwyntio ar un thema allweddol a’r thema eleni yw...Bod yn wybodus a chymryd rhan.

Mae'r Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais yn cefnogi pobl ifanc i gael gafael ar wybodaeth ddibynadwy am wleidyddiaeth, democratiaeth ac etholiadau, ac i gymryd y camau cyntaf tuag at gymryd rhan yn lleol.

O ddarganfod pwy sy'n eu cynrychioli’n lleol i archwilio'r materion sydd bwysicaf iddyn nhw a chael effaith gadarnhaol yn eu cymuned, mae yna gant-a-mil o ffyrdd y gall pobl ifanc fod yn wybodus a chymryd rhan.

Nod Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais yw rhoi'r wybodaeth a'r hyder sydd eu hangen ar bobl ifanc i fwrw eu pleidlais a darganfod ffyrdd eraill o gymryd rhan mewn democratiaeth.

Mae'n gyfle gwych i athrawon ac addysgwyr ddechrau'r sgwrs gyda phobl ifanc.

Os ydych chi'n gweithio mewn ysgol neu gyda grŵp ieuenctid, cofrestrwch i gymryd rhan yn nigwyddiad 2025 a byddwch yn derbyn adnoddau am ddim cyn yr wythnos i'ch helpu i gymryd rhan.

Mae rhagor o wybodaeth am Wythnos Croeso i Dy Bleidlais ar gael yma.
