Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has expressed concern over Plaid Cymru’s fixation for an independent Wales.

Speaking in the Senedd, about the upcoming budget, Mr Rowlands, Shadow Cabinet Minister for Finance said:

It's vital, more than ever, that the strength of Wales in the United Kingdom is recognised. It's this partnership that enables Wales to benefit from the economic scale and stability of the United Kingdom and from that shared prosperity funding, but also funding in strategic infrastructure and support for our public services.

There are those, though, First Minister, who would rather see Wales separated from the United Kingdom. We know that Plaid Cymru remains fixated on independence—a path that would risk billions in funding and would cost taxpayers in Wales £11,000 per year, per person.

They want to create economic instability and burden future generations with uncertainty and cost. So, rather than pursuing division like Plaid Cymru, it's vital that we work well in a strong United Kingdom to deliver what's best for the people of Wales.

Sam Rowlands AS yn rhybuddio y byddai trethdalwyr Cymru yn talu'r pris pe bai Cymru'n cael ei gwahanu oddi wrth y DU

Mae Sam Rowlands, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Ogledd Cymru, wedi mynegi pryder am uchelgais Plaid Cymru o weld Cymru annibynnol.

Yn siarad am y gyllideb sydd i ddod yn y Senedd, dywedodd Mr Rowlands, Gweinidog Cabinet yr Wrthblaid dros Gyllid:

Mae'n hanfodol, yn fwy nag erioed, bod cryfder Cymru yn y Deyrnas Unedig yn cael ei gydnabod. Y bartneriaeth hon sy'n galluogi Cymru i elwa o raddfa a sefydlogrwydd economaidd y Deyrnas Unedig ac o'r cyllid ffyniant cyffredin hwnnw, ond hefyd cyllid mewn seilwaith strategol a chymorth i'n gwasanaethau cyhoeddus.

Ceir rhai, fodd bynnag, Prif Weinidog, y byddai'n well ganddyn nhw weld Cymru yn cael ei gwahanu oddi wrth y Deyrnas Unedig. Rydym ni'n gwybod bod Plaid Cymru yn dal i lygadu annibyniaeth—llwybr a fyddai'n peryglu biliynau mewn cyllid ac a fyddai'n costio £11,000 y flwyddyn, y pen i drethdalwyr yng Nghymru.

Maen nhw eisiau creu ansefydlogrwydd economaidd a rhoi baich ansicrwydd a chost ar genedlaethau'r dyfodol. Felly, yn hytrach na mynd ar drywydd rhaniad fel Plaid Cymru, mae'n hanfodol ein bod ni'n gweithio'n dda mewn Teyrnas Unedig gref i gyflawni'r hyn sydd orau i bobl Cymru.
